Joy's Approach
Joy is a supportive coach, who will look at your situation from many angles. Her approach is motivating and tenacious - with a dash of humour at times.
She’ll encourage you to look at how your leadership is influenced by:
- the wider external factors that affect the way your organisations operates – for example, the regulatory, ethical, political or economic environment in which you work; and
- internal personal factors – for example, your personality traits, ethics and working style.
She’ll then discuss with you what you want to change so you perform even better. And she’ll work with you to identify the nub of underlying issues and agree how to turn these into opportunities and constructive, positive results.
During your sessions, Joy will use coaching tools and techniques from psychology and management to help you to bring about long-term change. These:
- challenge and motivate;
- increase self-awareness;
- encourage creative and positive thinking; and
- ensure focus in achieving business success.

Executive Coaching Programmes
Joy can design coaching programmes tailored to your specific requirements.
- These programmes may cover a specific business issue or support a change of role, depending on particular needs. Typical topics include leadership, managing change, influencing, Board relationships, personal effectiveness, life balance and mental resilience.
- Face-to-face coaching programmes usually span 6 – 12 months, with monthly sessions that last up to 2 hours. However, this can be tailored to your own requirements.
- During the coaching, you’ll be encouraged to use the coaching skills you have observed and acquired as an approach when leading and empowering your teams.
Board Coaching Programmes
Joy works with Boards to improve Board cohesion and relationships, so the Board meets its strategic and governance goals. This usually involves 3 stages:
- Investigate the causes of conflict or under-performance of the Board as a whole by interviewing individual members. Joy may also use questionnaires or 360 degree feedback psychometrics in this process.
- Evaluate with you how you want your successful Board to behave and act in the future. We’ll also agree how we will measure this success.
- Design and implement a Board coaching programme. This usually lasts 6 – 12 months and is tailored to your needs. The programme includes regular Board team coaching sessions and shadowing Board meetings. This is alongside individual coaching of the Chair and/or CEO.
